Instructions

I upsized the pattern from a 24 to about a 32/5X; I added a CF opening with a zipper and drafted a facing; I eliminated the CB zipper and replaced it with a seam; I used doubled regular thread for topstitching; to take in some of the fullness in the sleeve cap that I need for my ham arms, I made three topsitiched darts; and I added whimsical pockets with folded flaps decorated with brass jeans ...

Materials

Cotton denim remnants of mixed washes and weaves.

What was your inspiration?

I wanted to show how Vogue 8815 could be done in yet another style.

What are you most proud of?

Making a free top out of scraps laying around. I cut this top out a couple of months ago, and low and behold in this months batch of fashion magazines I saw several pricey garments made of "mixed wash denims." Cheap and fashionable!

What advice would you give someone starting this project?

Make sure all your denim remnants are pre-laundered!

It's wonderful, Barbara! I see your inner goth is peeking out from your use of 2 skanky zippers, lol. It looks really fun and I am positive it will look great on you, of course ;-). Years ago I did a great massage gig at a ranch in CO, for a lovely woman , also named Barbara. Her friends got together quite a bit, and called themselves the FOBs-the Friends of Barb. Seeing the terrific comment from Aromagal regarding "those of us who want to grow up and b just like BD (you)," reminded me-& count me in, too! You are pret-ty amazing! Thanks for showing us this project and your gorgeous Anne Klein jkt, too.

LOVE this version too! The pockets are unusual and give it even more unique style. You are so talented coming up with all these different styles for the same garment. Do you find that the peplum stands out more in heavier fabrics?

Wow! So cute and creative! I love the pockets, topstitching and the way you used the sleeve cap darts and bust darts as design elements. Thanks for sharing.
