For refrence DD wears a 2T shirt but this dress will stretch MUCH bigger.I started with an adult size medium shirt.Cut out neckline and arms out and take pocket off. (if there is one!) DD is also short for her age so I took about 1-2 inches off at chest height also (so it looks like you have a seperate top and bottom) and sewed / serged back together.
