Upcycled ballet flats

Instructions

This is a really easy and quick project to prolong the life of some worn out shoes.
See tutorial on my blog: http://www.shinybubbles.org/?p=332

Difficulty:

Category: Other

Type of item: Clothing

For: Women

Style: Romantic

Materials

A pair of old shoes, some golden spraypaint and ribbon.

What was your inspiration?

My sister wanted to throw these away. They were old. Not exactly broken, but the color was coming off, they had stains and were beginning to look a bit frayed.
I always wanted to have a pair of golden shoes, so I jumped on the opportunity and saved them from the bin.

What are you most proud of?

This was so quick and I'm very happy they didn't have to get thrown away!

What advice would you give someone starting this project?

I sprayed my shoes golden. Of course you can make them any color you want. You can even make patterns whatever you can think of!

I sprayed two layers and I would recommend to add at least one layer of clear varnish on top to keep the color from coming off too soon. Let each layer dry thoroughly, over night is best.

Oh, and take care of your fingers!
