Unlined jacket

Pattern Info

Instructions

I lengthened the garment some for my height and used a Hong Kong finish on all interior seams for this unlined jacket. I also made bound buttonholes since my fabric did not like the automatic buttonhole foot.

Difficulty:

Category: Sewing

Type of item: Clothing

For: Women

Style: Classic, Traditional

Materials

Raw silk novelty weave

What are you most proud of?

Using some of my stash fabric, and trims to make an item that I will wear.

What advice would you give someone starting this project?

This is a versatile pattern for a short coat or "Car coat" as we used to say. I really like the double collar.

Very pretty jacket, the fabric looks very similar to a jacket I used for one of my projects, is it linen?

It is a silk fabric, but it has the feel of a cotton. I was told by my friend who teaches textiles that iit is a novelty weave. It looks a little bit like a tweed.

Another great project. Really sharp car coat. Love your attention to detail such as fit, fabric, design, finishing and couture details. Keep them coming :)
