What is exciting or interesting to you about your photo(s)? While visiting some friends, I noticed that the emerging, spring ferns in their yard were all folded into neat packages. I asked if I could return early the next morning to photograph them. When I returned, I found that the ferns were already in the process of opening. The designs and colors were amazing.

Can you tell us about any special equipment or techniques that you used? I used my Canon EOS 7D with a Tamron 18-270mm. lens.

Nice details of a fern and a nice use of a telephoto to get them. I am not sure why they are all so underexposed. The images look dark and murky, plus the colors are dingy and dull. Digital sensors do not "like" underexposure because dark areas on a sensor are not recorded with the best color, tonality or noise. This has to do with the physics of light and sensors. Check your histogram. Be sure there is no large gap at the right side (you don't want it cut off at the right side, either). That really is all you have to do with a histogram, look at the right side.
