Learn It

This project was made as part of a Craftsy course:
Free Motion Quilting a Sampler »

Difficulty:

Category: Quilting

Type of item: Home Decor

For: Home

Style: Funky, Mod

Materials

Various quilting cottons, silk, poly and cotton decorative threads, cotton/poly batting

What was your inspiration?

The quilt top was constructed for another non-Craftsy class but the final instruction was "quilt as desired." It sat for 2 years since I had no clue what to do with it. It was difficult to construct and I didn't much care for the result. My inspiration was Leah Day, the FMQ Project and this course.

What are you most proud of?

I am proud that it is no longer a UFO. I am proud that I found the courage from Leah to choose bolder threads. I am proud that there is no stippling!!! I am proud that I didn't stop to rip out every mistake.

What advice would you give someone starting this project?

I consider this a FMQ project and I would advise anyone who takes Leah's course to just go for it.

The quilt is beautiful, but the FMQ is absolutely gorgeous. Leah is fabulous I am really excited about this class. I have finished my first 3 blocks, and hope that I can improve with each one. Thanks for sharing with us.

Merci beaucoup.

I love your quilting, it is very precise and very nicely done. Whitch kind of sewing machine do you have ? If it is a Bernina, are you using the BSR ? I have myself a Bernina QE440 I did not manage with it. I prefer to quilting with Leah settings ; stitches lenght 0 and feedogs down or up, I did not notice a big difference after few days of quilting (J have translated in english my message in french because the message went through in a funny way, with many mistakes. thank you
