I started with Connie Crawford's Butterick B5538 pattern and wanted to make it into a princess seam tee with a v-neck and a shirt-tail hem. I made it with short sleeves and then did a muslin to test the fit as I was making a few changes. I used another pattern I made a dress shirt out of to trace the hem line and another tee shirt pattern that doesn't have too deep of a V, to trace for the front. Obviously I cut the center front on the fold so that there was no seam..... but that's how I came up with it.
I did not have to do a full bust adjustment on this pattern, but I did have to lower the bust point on the front as it was too high for my body.
I like tees that are a little longer as I don't like them sitting up too high and showing off my "wares" as there's a fair amount of "chubb". All of the tees I have purchased in the last year aren't long enough for my liking, even though I hang them to dry (so shrinking due to the dryer isn't the problem).
This course inspired me to try sewing with knits again. I used my serger for the most part and stabilized the shoulders with clear elastic that I zig-zagged on after serging. The neckline is a self-fabric sewn in first and then serged. The neckline, sleeves and hem were then all stitched with a 4.0 double needle. The stitches were skipping for me, but stopped when I put the walking foot on my machine.I started with Connie Crawford's Butterick B5538 pattern and wanted to make it into a princess seam tee with a v-neck and a shirt-tail hem. After looking at these pics again and seeing my arms in the sleeves from the back, I adjusted the sleeves by adding length. I added a self fabric binding to lengthen them by an inch. It looks like a design detail now, and I feel more confident about my hammy arms :)
