What was your inspiration?
I attend a knitting group, a.k.a. "Chicks With Sticks" each week to make hats, scarves and gloves for homeless people and other charities. This little hat appeared as a donation from another unknown source without the pattern. I decided I wanted to make this for our charities as well as personally for the babies in my life.
What are you most proud of?
I am most proud that I was brave enough to attempt designing a knitting pattern from something I'd seen made without being an experienced knitter. Fear is my greatest stumbling block when it comes to knitting, and I am determined to overcome this!
What advice would you give someone starting this project?
Count and take your time. I actually prefer circular needles for this project, but wanted knitters to know it is possible to make this project with straight needles. It is very convenient to be able to store the unfinished hat on the cable of the circular needles between knitting sessions. This is the easiest of easy patterns, and beginners will love it. Experienced knitters will be able to do this behind their backs with their eyes closed!
