Twisted Tee

Pattern Info

This project was designed by Red-lia.
Info can be found at:

Twisted Tee »

Instructions

This is not really a pattern, more like a recipe to show how any v-neck top pattern can be altered to add a twist in the breast area.

Difficulty:

Category: Sewing

Type of item: Clothing

For: Women

Style: Retro / Vintage, Romantic, Casual, Classic

Materials

Jersey. Can be done with any fine knit.

What was your inspiration?

I had a similar (store bought) t-shirt with a twist in the front, that I really loved. When it got stained and all my efforts to remove that stain failed, I took it apart and copied its pattern to jersey, to make myself a new one in the same shape.
When I de-constructed it I saw how clever this twist is.
In fact, it is so easy that any v-neck shirt pattern you have can be altered to add this twist!

What are you most proud of?

First time reverse engineering!

What advice would you give someone starting this project?

Have no fear! You can do it too.

I have a knit dress (made in a sewing class) that is like this and I was going to make it into a top. Too cool! I think yours might be easier than the one I have. :)

Wonderful! I'd been wondering how to make a top like this! Can't wait to try it once I get hold of some reversible knit fabric.

Actually you don't have to get reversible fabric! The twist is a full circle (360 degrees). If you did half a twist (so that each side would show another side of the fabric, then the center seams would not meet!)

If you did'nt understand what I tried to explain - draft it on a piece of paper and see.
