Twirling Turquoise

Learn It

This project was made as part of a Craftsy workshop:
Classic Cabled Cowl »

Instructions

I have a slender neck, so I probably could have made the cowl with one fewer cable repetition. With this modification it would have fit more closely around my neck. For the pattern as it is written, you definitely need the 108 yards, as the designer advises.

Difficulty:

Category: Knitting

Type of item: Accessory

For: Women

Style: Classic

Materials

Two skeins (or 108 yards) of Lang Andina yarn (super bulky)

What was your inspiration?

I have been knitting for a little over a year now. I am eager to learn different knitting techniques. The workshop provides an excellent introduction to knitting cables. I also had never made a cowl before. The in-progress photos and the step-by-tutorial were clear and very helpful.

What are you most proud of?

I am most proud of the fact that I was able to knit the cowl fairly quickly and without any real difficulty. I love knitting cables.

What advice would you give someone starting this project?

You should have the 108 yards of super bulky yarn as recommended by the designer. However, if you have a slender neck, you may wish to consider shortening it by omitting one cable repetition.

Thank you very much for sharing this wonderful pattern and providing a tutorial. Your instructions are clear and encouraging, and the in-progress photos showing each stage are very helpful. You have helped me conquer any trepidation I may have had to knit cables! In fact, now I find myself drawn to cabled patterns and being more aware of cabled cardigans and sweaters around me. Yesterday at a staff meeting I was "studying" two different sweaters that colleagues were wearing!
