Instructions

This is View C of Burda 7136 but with a regular collar.

I used the mock flat-felled method for my side seams. Since I am top stitching from the front of the garment it would be more accurate and neater at the back.

Also I bound the bib seam to the front with satin bias binding. I think it's a neat seam finish.

Some care is required when sewing down the pleats in ...

Definitely Pam's Craftsy course. Her advice of breaking the steps down to units is super! And her constant encouragement is so appreciated.

I just love the pleats of the tuxedo bib and the French cuff details.

The tuxedo shirt was my 3rd shirt. There are no issues on using a different pattern from the suggested one in the class. The construction is the same. The only tricky part was the pleated bib. The french cuffs was actually quite straight forward. HTH.

Thanks Pam for your kind words. Yeah, this tuxedo shirt had ALL the details. The next one will done with white linen with black contrasting thread and pleats going right down both sides of the centre fronts.

Thanks Pam. This shirt is slow going and as you have advised approaching shirt sewing as units. I am now working on the collar and collar band.

Wow ... love the pleating too ... I am wanting to try pleating in a shirt. Any tips on getting neat even pleats?

Thanks. This is my first time pleating actually. I realised that since I am sewing from each pleat from the top to the bottom the pleated bib curves a little at the end. This goes the same for piecing long strips of fabric when it comes to quilting. The way to go is to alternate stitching from the top and then the bottom that way it evens out the curving. For the second bib I employed Pam's tip of taut sewing but still sewing from one direction and the curve was not so pronounced, HTH.
