Category: Sewing

Type of item: Accessory

For: Women

Style: Romantic, Mod, Classic

Materials

Charcoal Gray and Winter White Upholstery Fabric Strips, and Black/White Zebra Print Cotton Lining, and a Silver Magnetic Snap.

What was your inspiration?

I am grateful to Carol Ann Waugh for her two inspiring Craftsy online classes, "Stupendous Stitching", and "Stitch and Slash." Those two classes pulled me out of the fog; out of the hum-drum way I usually design and plan sewing projects---it brought me into a new dimension--the land of "There Are No Rules" and "There Are No Mistakes."

Even though I didn't use decorative stitching or slashing this time in creating the Tuxedo Purse, I was able to apply her "fearless" approach. Making my own fabric by combining the gray and white is so neat. I don't think it would have occurred to me to experiment like this--had it not been for Carol's inspiring classes.

What are you most proud of?

I made good fabric choices in this project. Both are upholstery fabrics leftover from other projects, and both fabrics are well matched in thickness and softness.

I'm so glad to see you are applying the "no rules" aspect of my classes in your other work! Makes our creative life much more fun!
