Turtle Neck Memory Quilt

Gone but not forgotten

Gone but not forgotten
Difficulty:

Category: Quilting

Type of item: Functional

For: Women

Style: Traditional

Materials

Turtle neck shirts from my mom who passes away, interfacing, one cotton blanket, batting.

What was your inspiration?

My friend was heart broken when she watched her mother suffer from lung cancer for over a year. After she passed I offered to make a quilt from her clothes. I was given 8 turtlenecks and her favorite blanket (used as binding) to make something one of a kind for her. My friend gave the quilt to her father for Father's Day.

What are you most proud of?

I am so humbled to of been given the chance to make this gift for an amazing person.

What advice would you give someone starting this project?

Make sure the interfacing is good quality and is fused tightly before sewing together.

You did an awesome job of creating the Turtle Neck Memory Quilt, I too lost someone dear to me and am going to make a shirt quilt called 'The Seven Shirt Quilt' from my husbands shirts.

I started making memory quilts when my mother in law passed. I know that the people that get them treasure them.

it is the most humbling experience to be given that opportunity.
