I used a large Turquois cabuchon in this ring. Because of its beautiful coloring I used non-tarnish copper wire to do the wrapping.

What was your inspiration?

I just love making jewelry and inspiration is everywhere. The large turquois cab was the inspiration for this piece. I first thought of making a necklace then decided the ring would be more fun. Using the copper wire really brought out the lovely color of the turquois stone.

What are you most proud of?

The finished ring. I do think it turned out pretty. It is a little big, but big rings seem to be 'in' right now.

What advice would you give someone starting this project?

Let your whimsy be your guide. I know there are wire artists out there who specialize in being very formal and exacting in their wrapping and their style can be beautiful. I, however, find that I really enjoy the process more and love the end result much more when things are a little wonky. I think it makes for a more unique piece...more one-of-a kind! So, don't sweat the details...have fun!
