Gorgeous colors! As for having it lay right, as in all crochet, it's more a matter of how the tension is controlled throughout the project than blocking. Blocking just stretches and compresses the stitched in shape so it will go back to how the the tension dictates that shape after you wash it. I haven't taken this class yet so don't know if tension on the feed of yarn is maintained the same as usual, but that's the issue regarding how it lays. Good job and and inspiring piece!
