Tumbling Out of My Head

Is this your project? Can you share instructions or a pattern with the Craftsy community?

Category: Quilting

Type of item: Home Decor

For: Home

Style: Traditional, Classic

Materials

Cotton textiles

What was your inspiration?

Jinny Beyer seminar class.

What are you most proud of?

I love working with bi-laterally symmetrical fabrics. Each diamond is made of 4 triangles that are mirror images of each other. I also love the jewel tones.

What advice would you give someone starting this project?

Practice using the bilaterally symmetrical fabrics by making paper copies of the fabrics and cutting them up to match before cutting into your fabric! It's much cheaper that way!

I've always wanted to do a tumbling blocks pattern, but could never quite figure it out. Were you able to do this on a machine, or is it hand sewn? Great job.

Thank you. I did most of it by machine but some by hand as I enjoy hand piecing and can take it on the go. Basically you need a light, medium and dark value diamond for each "block". I subdivided each diamond into 4 mirror image triangles to make the diamonds and the patterns within each diamond.
