Tropical Cruise Birthday Cake

Is this your project? Can you share instructions or a pattern with the Craftsy community?

Difficulty:

Category: Food & Cooking

Type of item: Food

For: Unisex

Style: Traditional, Casual, Funky

Materials

Vanilla sponge cake covered in white fondant (I had this supplied to me ready made, so a bit disappointed the board wasn't covered). I decorated with fondant-covered Rice Krispie Cruise ship, Brush Embroidery waves (thank you Carolinedoodles on Cake Central for the tutorial), Tappit lettering (embelished with piped royal icing) and a sugar paste hibiscus and tropical leaves.

What was your inspiration?

I was asked to make a birthday cake for a friend's mum. She wanted a cruise ship on the cake.

What are you most proud of?

Using Rice Krispie cake for modelling the cruise ship - first time using this.

What advice would you give someone starting this project?

Tether your children in the garden as 4 year olds do not like leaving their mum alone to bake!!!

I really like the effect piping over the tappits letters gave you. I will have to try that. Good job!
