What was your inspiration?

The triangle shawl design we will use in our class project is adaptable to any yarn type and can be knitted to any length. Not only will you take away new skills and tips for knitting lace, you will also create a lovely shawl made to your own personal taste in yarn and to your desired size.

What are you most proud of?

Take this on-line class from the convenience of your home. Youll have 6 weeks to practice, ask questions, share your progress and learn at your own pace. Just connect your computer to the internet, and the class and Discussion Board are there, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

What advice would you give someone starting this project?

This class consists of three lessons:

In Lesson-1 we will start our shawls at the center back neckline, thereby allowing us to practice lace knitting on just a few stitches and learn to read a lace chart.

In Lesson-2, we will focus on tips and tricks for making our lace knitting a satisfying experience. As the shawls widen, the number of stitches increases, so this will be a good time to discuss things to do to help avoid mistakes in the first place, and then cover what to do to get back on track if they do.

In Lesson-3, we will learn to bind off in a lace edging, and how to block lace to release its stunning beauty.

To take this class, you should be comfortable with these basics of knitting: cast on, knit, purl, yarn over, increasing (make a stitch), decreasing (ssk, k2tog) and slip stitch.
