Triangles, Squares and Circles

Crazy Quilting

Learn It

This project was made as part of a Craftsy course:
Design It, Quilt It: Free-Form Techniques »

Instructions

I wanted to practice triangular feathers, and clam shell ginkgo leaves for this piece.
I have step by step photos and details for this piece on my blog - http://joanne-threadhead.blogspot.ca/2012/12/sew-much-fun.html

Difficulty:

Category: Quilting

Type of item: Home Decor

For: Home

Style: Traditional, Classic

Materials

A small crazy quilt surrounded by a large border of quilting cotton. The thread for the free motion quilting is 100Wt Invisafil. I used a layer of cotton batting with half a layer of wool batting on top. I used #15 and #11 beads in areas of the quilting, plus a mother-of-pearl button (this repeats elements in the crazy quilting). The piece is 19" x 20".

Is this your project? Tell us more!

What a great idea! I love the quilting on the frame itself, and then what a wonderful way to highlight a small art piece! You go girl!

Wow. I looked at it and looked at it and then looked at it more. Then finally I saw that wonderful circle made by your fill. The overall was so wonderful and there was so much to discover and keep discovering. It was the best way to start my morning. Thank you. Now I have to go look some more

Wow! Let me just say... wow! What do you call that type of stitching between the feathers and the pebbles that surround the crazy patch? Again, so lovely!!!

Thanks! The stitch is called "Scribbling", it is from Cindy Needham (it is as much fun to stitch as it sounds).
