This project was made as part of a Craftsy course:
Design It, Quilt It: Free-Form Techniques »

Difficulty:

Category: Quilting

Type of item: Home Decor

For: Women

Style: Traditional

Materials

Warm and Natural Batting, So Fine #50 Thread by Superior

What was your inspiration?

I was inspired by Cindy Needham's class and designing feathers to fit the spaces available.

What are you most proud of?

I love the outside border.

What advice would you give someone starting this project?

Take lots of breaks while working on a project. Once your muscles start to get tired you will not be able to quilt smoothly and backtrack well.

This is beautiful. I'm not a quilter although I love quilted items and Ralli work from my native land, the Indian sub continent . Is it possible to order one like this? Please!!

Thank you everyone for your lovely comments. The pattern came from the Stack and Wackier book by Bethany Reynolds. I believe that is who the author is.

I love this quilt. I just showed the picture to a friend and we were both wondering where the pattern might be found. What a beautiful use of fabrics and the quilting is fantastic. Hope I can learn to eventually quilt like that.

Really wonderful design! I love the optical illusion, and how the fussy cut blocks give you so many different looks for what I guess is one fabric. Did you stack n wack? I love how the half border gives your squares a 3D effect, and your feather look very neat and even. Great job all around.
