What was your inspiration?

I fell in love with the idea of this traditional Irish bread while reading The irish Country Doctor series of books. Then I looked up recipes and knew that this was my kind of bread! Sweet and fruity, it's like the raisin bread I've always adored only better.

I wanted my diabetic husband to be able to enjoy this, too, so I came up with two diabetic friendly variations. One is for those who are allowed some sweet and some white flour and the other is for more serious diabetics.

What are you most proud of?

The diabetic version of this bread is just as tasty as the traditional version.

What advice would you give someone starting this project?

Get your hands in the dough and enjoy!

My charity sale of all the knitted and crochet stuff I done during the year. Sale would be held on 11-11-12 (Veteran's day). All profitas would be donated to the old folks home, for diapers and to the local orphanage for blankets. Would be sell (God willing) most of the pieces I posted here, and some others, I no even had a time to take pics. But would be nice to have some good bread and coffee for the attendants, don't you think so? hehehe If I remember I would take some pics of the whole display

What a wonderful project! Love your charity choices! This bread goes very nicely with coffee and it isn't very expensive to make. It's lovely with a bit of butter or cream cheese. I hope your sale goes beautifully!! Fingers crossed. I do want to see photos!
