Tourmaline Torment for Frankie

Instructions

Both the ovals and roundelles had been drilled with very small holes. I had to step down to a smaller gauge beading wire than I normally use. I wanted to use these ovals because their colors were subtle and their size was dainty and classically "ladylike." In short, the perfect backdrop for the bold Watermelon Tourmaline pendant..

Difficulty:

Category: Jewelry

Type of item: Accessory

For: Women

Style: Romantic, Classic

Materials

Tourmaline ovals, roundelles, and bicones; silver round spacers, and Tourmaline and garnet in silver pendant. Beadalon beading wire and silver-plated findings.

What was your inspiration?

A beautiful, jewel colors on black, special occasion top worn by a friend. The open neckline just invited the addition of the dark beauty of a tourmaline necklace.

What are you most proud of?

That I made those delicate beads work, despite the difficulty with their imperfect drilling.

What advice would you give someone starting this project?

Keep beading wire in several sizes (and colors) on hand to deal with any type of bead.

Sometimes the imperfections in the drilled stones, make them pop. Lovely item!
