What was your inspiration?

My son grew up watching me do simple wedding cakes and birthday cakes for other people, so when it came time for him to marry, he asked me to do the wedding cake for him. Wanting to create something really special, we decided to do a fondant covered topsy turvy cake with gumpaste roses....all well and good except for the fact that I had no experience with fondant, gumpaste, or topsy turvy construction!

What are you most proud of?

That it got finished and delivered in time...just in time! It photographed well, and small imperfections were only noticed by me....those in attendance were properly impressed. The bride and groom were pleased.

What advice would you give someone starting this project?

Practice the techniques before attempting such an important cake. I was humbled, for sure, and had to improvise with fabric ribbon instead of fondant ribbons due to my lack of experience and running out of time.

GREAT JOB1!! I would have never attempted this!! I've been doing the cake decorating classes they have at the Michaels stores around me...and I keep getting VERY frustrated!!! I couldn't even imagine me trying to do this!!! If you could give me input on the Topsy Turvy Cake class on here I would appreciate it!! Was it an easy class? Did they explain things very well? I'm debating on whether to take it or not....If you have a moment could you please email me and help me decide? enchantedjewelry@ymail.com Thank you Laura
