What was your inspiration?

Sharman's did this BOM last year and I loved the look. I always wanted to learn how to quilt so I "jumped in the deep end" so to speak. My sewing machine had sat on a shelf and gathered dust for 17 years. I had it serviced and started learning blocks and terminology as fast as I could.

What are you most proud of?

I got it finished and I still love this quilt design. Not everyone that started this quilt completed it from my Block of the Month group. I'm just so happy with it.

What advice would you give someone starting this project?

I would not recommend this for brand new beginners unless your mule headed, love math, and can really follow instructions.

Batiks are my favorite fabric to use, this is beyond what I think I could create. So is this last year's BOM with Craftsy? Does that mean that they will have one for 2013?

That is a stunning quilt - so complex and the quilting is so varied too. You should be very proud of yourself and I can hardly believe that it's your first project. Congratulations!

This was a block of the month pattern. While I was learning and making this I did manange to make and complete 5 smaller and simpler quilts first. But this quilt does have the first 2 quilt blocks I made in it.

That center star is my very first quilt block and it has paper piecing involved. I had so much fun learning.
