I feel it is overworked, it seems to lack freshness.

Looking good, but, yes it is a little overworked. It looks like after you would put a was down, you were'nt comfortable letting the wash dry before adding to it, and fussed with it while it was still wet. This diluted the washes, this makes them sharp around the edges, but lighter in the center, as you've picked up some of the pigment before it set into the page. this is clearest in the beard, you can see the dark edges but in the center of the wash it gets lighter.
