What was your source for this knitting project?
Online Photo or Website
Name of website or photo Basic Toe-Up Gusset Heel Sock
What materials did you use? Size 0 double pointed needles, 2 skeins of Knit Picks Stroll Fingering Yarn for the multi-color pair and 2 skeins of Paton's Kroy Stripes Sock Yarn for the blue striped pair.
What advice would you give someone starting this project? Learn the Turkish Cast-on because once you do, it will become second nature to you! It leaves a very smooth feeling sock and is totally seamless! There are Internet sites with videos to learn this particular cast on. NOTE (added 8-3-11): For anyone creating socks, I want to add that when I knit socks and get that little gap where the heel, gusset and ankle meet, I don't do any fancy trick knitting to close it, but what I do is knit a few ankle rounds, then go back and use a dpn to gently tug at the loops in the first ankle round until all are evened out including closing that unsightly gap. It works really well. It may seem a little tricky, but if you are knitting socks anyway, you should have no problem figuring out where to grab on and tug! The pattern link above connects to ravelry.com where the pattern is available for immediate download ($3).
