What materials did you use? Yarn: Bijou Basin Ranch Bijou Spun Mountain Treks, 50% yak/ 50% alpaca; 250 yards; 4 oz [112 grams]; CYCA size 3 dk 16-wpi): dark brown (MC), 1 (1, 1, 1 ) hanks. Bijou Basin Ranch Bijou Spun Yak/Alpaca Roving. 50% yak/50% alpaca; 2 (2, 2 , 2 ) oz. Hook: Size USG/6 (4 mm) or size to obtain correct gauge Needle: Set of five size US 6 dpns for cuff Notions: Stitch markers (m), tapestry needle.

What are you most proud of? That I developed this technique so that crocheters can have really great mittens :-)

What advice would you give someone starting this project? I would make the thrums first before you start. As to how many...I always tell people A LOT! Here is a link to the youtube video I did to demonstrate how to crochet with thrums:
