Thread Art Seahorse

Learn It

This project was made as part of a Craftsy course:
Thread Art »

Instructions

Take Lola Jenkins Thread Art Class and follow her instructions.

Difficulty:

Category: Quilting

Type of item: Home Decor

For: Home

Style: Whimsical

Materials

Fabric, batting, charcoal thread, colored pencils, fabric medium, rat tail cord

What was your inspiration?

I love technique classes but like to do my own thing instead of a class project. I like lines and texture . The batik that I chose for my fabric added color and shading to the overall piece. I used Lola's method for adding color to the seahorse only.

What are you most proud of?

I am very happy with the way it turned out.

What advice would you give someone starting this project?

If you have not done any free motion stitching, I would certainly follow Lola's advise and start with something simple. My design was not difficult for me but it might be for someone who has not
done much fee motion stitching.

This is GORGEOUS!!! I love it. I'm going to look closer into the Thread Art class. Once I learn to FMQ I'd love to be able to do something this beautiful. You can be very proud of your work. Its outstanding.

Not yet - I've already signed up for a number of other classes. Want to do them before adding another - but this is definitely on the list.

Thank you, part of the color comes from the background and the rest from the colored pencils

Another WOW....WOW...AND MORE WOW. This seahorse is outstanding. I love your fabric choice, your play on colors, the shape of the quilt, the design, and the cording finish. Did I get it all?
