Share a little about the materials, processes and techniques used to create this cake: I wanted to create a cake with chinese new year's theme for this year which is the year of the horse. The scallop design suits perfectly well here with the color of red and gold. I painted a gold horse on the first tier and used the scallop design on the second. I use peony because it is one of the traditional floral symbol of China and is used symbolically in chinese art. Making scallop design is time consuming but well worth the effort. The work is not as neat but practice makes better yes?! =) Thank you very much Jessica for sharing ! LOVE your class!

What advice would you give someone starting this project? cutting the scallops, painting each one of them, let them dry and transfer them onto the cake take patience and lots of time ! so take it easy and do one part at a time. =)

Hi, it's an awesome cake:) How would you do the top tier with the horse painting and the gold strip n rope? Thank

Hiya thanks. I painted the horse on the cake with gold lustre dust by tracing the image onto the cake before I stacked it on the bottom tier. I bought The gold ribbon and rope from a craft store.=)
