I just made one for myself out of a tiered skirt, I cut the bottom layer off and it turned out really well...and it was so easy. To tie the skirt to the t-shirt a little better I cut out a flower from the part I cut off and made an appliqu.

That's so cool--love the idea of doing it with a tiered skirt! Great way to join the look of the two pieces further with applique, too. I'm thrilled to hear it turned out well for you!
