Share a little about the materials, processes and techniques used to create this piece. I am exploring the palettes with Gamblin Artists Colors in the classical, Impressionist and Modern 20th c. in this Still Life series. In each of the paintings the subjects are the same but I chose to change the position of the hawk for interest. I have now completed the series in these palettes and I think I may go on to paint another piece utilizing all three palettes into one piece.(16 x 20" each)

What are you most proud of? Hard to say which one I feel most proud of. I am still too close to the Modern one in terms of painting it. I like them all for different reasons.

What advice would you give someone starting this project? Allow yourself time without a deadline to work through these ideas and palettes. Don't watch the entire video at once-break it up and get the benefit of each segment, work with it, then return when you are ready for the next lesson.

In this series of three oil paintings I used the same subjects-three pears, the hawk and some kind of colorful background. I am showing the paintings in order that I painted them along with a detail from each. Classical, Impressionist and Modern palettes were my color guides. Gamblin Artists Colors in both regular oils and the Fast Mattes were used throughout. Thank you Scott Gellatly for an excellent tutorial online!well worth the price of admission !!
