What are you most proud of? I am most proud of being able to alter a pattern. I always got frustrated with getting a pattern to fit me. I wanted to take dressmaking but there are no classes around. When I saw Craftsy offer all kinds of sewing lessons, I jumped on it and I feel confident to make clothes fit me and style I like.

What advice would you give someone starting this project? 1st make a muslin to get your fit. Once you fit it to your body, it is easy to alter the pattern. You can use the personal muslin pattern for any other sewing projects you have. Stick with it. Sometimes you have to rip a seam out and redo. I keep trying it on as I am progressing till it fits right. If I get frustrated, I put the project down for a day and rethink things out. I usually come up with the solution when I do that.

This dress cost me $15.00. It is fully lined like expensive stores. I love wearing clothes that actually fit. What a treat! The perfect fit teacher and course is a must, if you want to learn how to alter a pattern.

Thank you Daisy and Florrie. This dress was a challenge! Because I did so much alteration, I had a lot of redoing areas as I tried it on. I feel good about it though. Let me know when you start a new project!
