The Not-So-Itty-Bitty Giraffe

Learn It

This project was made as part of a Craftsy course:
The (Not So) Itty-Bitty Giraffe »

Difficulty:

Category: Knitting

Type of item: Toy

For: Children

Style: Cute

Materials

Spud & Chloe Sweater (Worsted 55% Woof/45% Organic Cotton) 2 hanks main color 1 hank accent color.

What was your inspiration?

My granddaughter, Shea, who's having her 1st birthday!

What are you most proud of?

I like the little girly color, and I think I did a good job of capturing the character of Susan's design.

What advice would you give someone starting this project?

Use the alternative cast-on method, it's less confusing...and redo the face as many times as you need to get it just the right way. Susan is right, the face makes all the difference. I took out my eyes completely after the first completion, then did the nose, then restitched the eyes, doing one of them twice again. Not that big of a deal, and it was worth the redo. Oh! And I used a simple wooden ruler to wrap the pom-poms.

That's one of the most adorable animals I've seen. It looks huge! I'm sure your granddaughter will love it.

Wow. Thanks, so much! I really appreciate that! It's really just about 14 inches tall sitting down.
