Instructions

Knits up fast, being knit from the bottom up and in the round, using worsted weight yarns. It uses basketweave and twisted stockinette stitches. If you have ever braided hair, then it will be a snap to knit the braid on the hat! Directions are clear and easy to follow. You can also choose to simply knit the Lizzie up in just one color. It's really hard to just make one!

What was your inspiration?

Wanted to design a stylish and comfortable hat for both the everyday woman and as well, a woman who might have to undergo chemo. I named the hat after my very creative 103 year old grandmother, Elizabeth, who only recently passed away.

What are you most proud of?

My hat designs bring a smile to the face of many chemo patients, cheering up their day...giving them a sense of beauty and dignity, in spite of what they are going through. It's all worth it!

What advice would you give someone starting this project?

This is truly a beginner's dream project. I almost named this the Stitch Sampler hat, as there are several basic stitches used. The directions are very clear and easy to follow. The yarns used are inexpensive yarns. Once you have finished your Lizzie, you will be very pleased with the hat, and will probably be heard saying something like, "I can't believe it was that easy to do!!"

Agree with all your comments! I knit it up in 3.5 hours!! The sizing and stitch pattern makes it fit like a glove...and is so warm and comfy/snug...I'm sure it will make a great chemo hat!
