Your quilt is gorgeous, Mary Lou. I love the way you isolated the gold--it is very evocative. Are you going further from here? Or is this one done and you want to move on to the next one now that you have the technique in hand?Let me know if I can be of help.

Thank you, Judith. I want to go further with this, but I am not sure where to go.... I like it the way it is, but I want to explore some of the embellishment techniques from your class. Any suggestions you have would certainly be helpful!
I bought the Art Quilt Backgrounds: Beyond Log Cabin class from Craftsy.com. I just followed the teacher's directions, used colors that I love and this is what I came up with.
Not finished yet...not sure where to go from here. I want to try some painting, but it is so hard for me to let go. I love the colors and the effect of the random shapes in the log cabin blocks. Don't want to ruin it!
I don't think it needs the painting. The sunset effect is gorgeous, you've got the luminescence just right. How about a border which is mostly strips but has some occasional sets of triangles?
Dom't be too concerned with a border. I find with these random log cabin blocks borders can be very distracting from the actual design and intent of the quilt. Study the quilt for a while before you go further. I sometimes put things up onthe design wall for weeks.
