What was your inspiration?
I was inspired by a lovely little zip coin purse pouch I once made from one of Denyse Schmidt's modern patchwork books. It was like a zip pouch light went off in my head, and I went zip pouch crazy! I love how once you get the basic construction concept of adding the zipper, you can customize it to infinity! I wanted a perfect way to keep my iPad, iPhone, and iPod organized and safe in my large purse, and this was the perfect way!
What are you most proud of?
Probably the overall look of the bag, and the colors and materials I chose to make it out of. I'm obsessed with yellow and teal, and when paired with the natural organic-look of the linen Essex, I think it really turned out exactly how I had wanted- modern and fresh. The simple yellow Sashiko stitched accent is just like the icing on the cake for me!
What advice would you give someone starting this project?
Cut carefully, sew slowly on the thicker areas, and let your creativity go crazy so that your iTote fits your personality. So many possibilities!
