What was your inspiration?

I actually love handkerchief hems! I wanted to do this in an updated way, inspired by all the "sharkbite" hem tops I am seeing in trendy tween to adult clothing lately.

What are you most proud of?

How romantic the overall look is with the lace up bodice, hankie hems, and sash tie back.

What advice would you give someone starting this project?

If you know how to buttonhole (or can use the automatic function on your sewing machine) you can make this! It's really quite simple.

This is just so adorable! I am so glad that parents are still making the kinds of clothing that make children know how special they are and to feel that way in their clothes! Great "TWIRL" effect here and what little one doesn't like to turn around until the drop from the dizzy sensation of looking at the beautiful patterns/colors they see as they go round & round & round &....well, you get it! Thank you so much for your free inspiration and directions as you know the price for these things are outrageous!

Could you substitute "eyelet" instead of the buttonholes? Like I've seen (and done) for medieval costumes?

Yes, I offer no-buttonhole solutions - grommets (eyelets) for the bodice and an alternate strap method for the back.
