What materials did you use? The Cat in the Bag is made from large scraps in contrasting or coordinating colors. A slight amount of stuffing will be used in the tail and paws. Machine stitching is used to replace the majority of handwork but a little handwork for some facial features is necessary requring black embroidery floss. Heat and fuse adhesive sheets make applique easy.

What are you most proud of? The zipper on the curve. I started sewing when I was a young teen and when I stopped and thought I have never put in a zipper on a curve so I had to do some creative thinking and trial and error. I stocked up on 9 inch zippers and tried it three times before I got a look I liked and making the steps just one, two, three easy! And another thing....I hate handwork but love the look of that personal touch! I let my machine do the work. Well, this is mostly machine work. I added eyelashes and a mouth by hand. I had stitches on my machine I had never tried so I just found one I liked and tried it out. My daughter called it a blanket stitch. I don't know the names of them but it certainly gave it a more whimical look!

What advice would you give someone starting this project? Just jump in there and do something new and challenging to you. It makes life more interested when you continue to acquire new skills. And .....use your time wisely. There are the same 24 hours in my day as everyone else. It is just how that time is used. I found myself spending an hour a day on the social networking sites before I wised up and that is just me looking to see how someone else is using that valuable time when I could be using that hour to do something productive!
