Swedish Weave Border Pattern »

Instructions

This is actually just a border pattern that I repeated throughout the entire blanket.

Difficulty:

Category: Other

Type of item: Functional

For: Unisex

Style: Mod, Casual

Materials

White Monk's Cloth (1.5 yards), Green Worsted Weight Yarn, Caron Simply Soft Yarn in Black, Lion Brand Fancy Tube Yarn (it's the shiny stuff that variegates).

What was your inspiration?

After my many years of doing Swedish Weave, I have developed a style I like to think is more modern than most of what you would find in a pattern book. I was really inspired by this tubular shiny yarn and I bought it in several colors because it really is perfect for Swedish Weave.

What are you most proud of?

This blanket was made for my husband while we were dating and I let him pick the colors and all. Sadly, I lost the fancy yarn when I only had 2 rows left - that was back in 2008. I found the yarn while going through a bunch of old stuff and I finished it up! So, now it's called the 4 year blanket because that's how long it took to complete :)

What advice would you give someone starting this project?

Don't be afraid to try nontraditional yarns. I really love the edgy look it gives to something that I have always called my Granny Craft :)
