Share a little about the materials, processes and techniques used to create this cake: I sculpted the dog out of rice crispy treats and covered it in white fondant. I used a fondant tool to scratch the fondant to create the fur effect. I coloured the dog with petal dusts and a large paintbrush. I mixed some black food colouring powder with a little vodka and painted the nose and the eyes to make them look glossy. Let it dry overnight. I cut out a circle of black fondant and placed it on top of the cake. I then cut a piece of parchment paper the same size and placed it over the black circle. Next, i cut out another circle this time in red fondant and placed it on top of the parchment paper. I then covered the whole cake in white fondant. You should be able to see a round mound on top of the cake. I cut strips of red fondant and placed them across the cake to look like a gift box.I cut 4 lines intersecting on the mound with a blunt knife. Open up the slices and take out the parchment circle so you can see the black fondant. Position the dog in the middle and secure with some skewers. I covered a square cake board with red fondant and glued a black and gold ribbon around the edge. Let it dry for a few days. Place the cake in the centre of the board.
