What was your inspiration?

The pressure was on! My sister in law asked, "Uh, so when does Terrence get a quilt????" Seeing as how the nieces in the house have a quilt, yet Mr. T did not... well, I just had to do it, Quilt Dude style. This is my brother's daughter's one year old son, so I wanted something colorful, but not overly so, since this is a boy quilt. I bought the zoo animals charm pack and built the quilt around it. And what are the chances that I have TWO Terrences with my quilts! [Remember the Pac Man video game quilt?] Terrence and Terrence, no relation.

What are you most proud of?

The block lettering came out good! I wanted it to look like the alphabet blocks we all played with as children, spelling out his name. I think I made a good choice also in the gray background - it makes the colors pop. Oh, and did you see the quilting? I quilted his name throughout the whole quilt, among the meandering.

When you quilt do you match thread to each individual color fabric in the quilt?

Hello again! LOL Matching threads just depends. For this particular quilt I chose a gray thread for quilting everything - the letters, the animal blocks, the meandering, even the binding. But the "other" Terrence quilt, for example, I did match threads to the monsters I was quilting as well as the lettering.

Thank you for your kind words, Maggie. But really there is no secret you just have to jump in and do it! I was really hesitant to try free motion and thought I would never be able to do it, yet here I am, enjoying the learning process. I am by no means an expert but each quilt is a chance to practice and improve.

Love it! A great quilt for the little guy! The alphabet lettering really does pop! You've perfected your quilting! You did an awesome job on the "meandering" with the quilting and the whole thing! I also really like the blanket stitch you used with contrasting thread. Keep up with the great work ;-)

Thanks, Ms. Sandie. I really had fun making this, and it actually came together quickly, since there is so much open space. I had tons of room to play with the quilting. I think Terrence will like it. I hope he does! LOL

Fabulous? Perfect? Amazing? I like those words, Angie! LOL LOL Thanks. There is nothing to be chicken about, just go for it! My best creative friend is graph paper. I start drawing and filling in little squares until I like what I see. That's sort of how this quilt was created. It's easy!

Now this is something your great nephew will treasure until he has worn it out to little shreds of the cloth. It so looks like a little boy quilt. Great job!
