What materials did you use? Cotton Fabric, Batiks, Polyester batting

What are you most proud of? The block lettering came out good! I wanted it to look like the alphabet blocks we all played with as children, spelling out his name. I think I made a good choice also in the gray background - it makes the colors pop. Oh, and did you see the quilting? I quilted his name throughout the whole quilt, among the meandering.

What a GREAT Quilt!!!! You did SO MANY Neat things in it. I Love the backing - and how you wrote his name throughout in the quilting. Such a Treasure. He will LOVE it for years and years to come. Good work Dude!

Thanks, Ms. Sandie. I really had fun making this, and it actually came together quickly, since there is so much open space. I had tons of room to play with the quilting. I think Terrence will like it. I hope he does! LOL

Love it! A great quilt for the little guy! The alphabet lettering really does pop! You've perfected your quilting! You did an awesome job on the "meandering" with the quilting and the whole thing! I also really like the blanket stitch you used with contrasting thread. Keep up with the great work ;-)

Thanks, Angie. I do feel more comfortable now with FMQ but still have a lot to learn.

Another too cool modern quilt. And the name in the quilting...priceless!! Great job, Dude.

Thanks, Sue. I am pretty happy with it. :-)

When you quilt do you match thread to each individual color fabric in the quilt?

01/06/2013 Flag

Hello again! LOL Matching threads just depends. For this particular quilt I chose a gray thread for quilting everything - the letters, the animal blocks, the meandering, even the binding. But the "other" Terrence quilt, for example, I did match threads to the monsters I was quilting as well as the lettering.

Your work really inspires my I have followed you since you did your first FMQ sampler, I have yet to get started and only hope I can FMQ 1/2 as well as you

Thank you for your kind words, Maggie. But really there is no secret you just have to jump in and do it! I was really hesitant to try free motion and thought I would never be able to do it, yet here I am, enjoying the learning process. I am by no means an expert but each quilt is a chance to practice and improve.
