cotton fabric, cotton batting, cotton thread for quilting, polyester thread for applique

What was your inspiration?

I saw a similar quilt in a magazine and liked the column idea. The design is named Chinese Coins. The fabric was inspirational. I had charm squares from a collection called 'Summer Sizzle' so I used them for all of the print fabrics. I did buy extra fabric from the same collection for the borders.

What are you most proud of?

I did free motion quilting in a daisy design for the first time, on the 'coin' columns.

What advice would you give someone starting this project?

Just do it! This would be a very forgiving design. You could do uneven 'coins' if you want. You can make it scrappy or use a fabric collection. The plain columns can be any color, any print that you want. If you want to practice free motion quilting, you can use a fabric with fairly large flowers and practice quilting around the flowers.
