Is this your project? Can you share instructions or a pattern with the Craftsy community?

Difficulty:

Category: Quilting

Type of item: Home Decor

For: Home

Style: Casual, Whimsical, Holiday, Cute

Materials

A panel print, matching fabric and Warm and Natural batting

What was your inspiration?

A friend sent me some of her old projects, some she hadn't gotten around to starting yet. This one she'd planned to make a wallhanging, but I didn't want to have leftover fabric from a collection that was no longer available, so I used every bit and made a lap quilt instead.

What are you most proud of?

I am so happy to have finished this in time for the holidays. I plan to mail it to my gifting friend with thanks for giving me lots of fun stuff to play with. I know she'll like it because she chose it for herself to begin with (about 8 years ago).

What advice would you give someone starting this project?

Occasionally we have to let go of some of our stash (to make room for new) think of your quilting friends who would love to have something new to add to theirs. There are so many quilts to be made and not enough time. Make someone happy, share the load.

It's a panel print by Northcott, perhaps 8 years ago. I simply added a few borders and then hand quilted it. My friend bought the fabric to make a wallhanging using just 3 of the pictures.

What a wonderful story! Your friend will be thrilled and you had the pleasure of making something for her that you knew she'd like. You are so right about cleaning out the fabric stash. I routinely go through the small bits and larger pieces, pull those that I more than likely won't use, and give them away to whoever wants them.

This is one gift that made two friends very happy. One who got to spend time quilt and the other who finally got the gift that she wanted. I love the colours.
