Instructions
I made this up as I went along, but it's about 40cm wide and 120cm long plus plaited fringes. There is about 20cm plain weave at each end, then 3 bands of 6 rows of leno, and plain weave in the middle.Difficulty:
Category: Weaving
Type of item: Clothing
For: Women
Style: Formal / Bridal
Materials
4 balls Merino et Soie; 2 balls wool with a glitter thread, 1 skein teal metallic embroidery floss; beads, Ashford rigid heddle loom; for the shawl pin: a safety pin, beading wire, glass seed beads
What was your inspiration?
I wanted a shawl to wear with a dress that had a teal-coloured peacock feather motif.
What are you most proud of?
This was my first attempt at leno, and I tried out 3 different kinds, and i liked the way it formed lacy patches across my shoulders.
What advice would you give someone starting this project?
I think it would have been easier if I'd made a shed stick first. If I made this again, I would do the leno section much closer to the ends, and probably continue leno all the way through it.
