This project was made as part of a Craftsy course:
Rigid Heddle Weaving »

Instructions

I used cotton thread I already had, and the limited colors I had in turn limited me to putting color stripes on the four sides, instead of the plaid the instructor wove.

I also decided to make four towels, instead of two and my Schacht Flip Loom has almost 24 inches of warp used for the loom instead of the 18 of the Kromski Harp Loom, so my last towel is about a half an inch short.

Difficulty:

Category: Weaving

Type of item: Functional

For: Home

Style: Casual, Retro / Vintage, Classic

Materials

Lily "The Original Sugar'n Cream" 4 ply cotton. Used a 8 dent heddle. Woven the towels were 27"x15" not including fringe. After machine washing and drying the towels are 24"x14".

What was your inspiration?

I enjoy weaving, and wanted to make a functional item that wouldn't be negatively impacted by learning mistakes.

What are you most proud of?

Getting them done. Not stopping because they weren't turning out right. And some of my edges look good.

What advice would you give someone starting this project?

Read the instructions, I skimmed them and then spent a lot more time trying to fix my mistakes.

The bottom cloth is actually doubled, so there are two unfinished towels there.
