Materials

Lana Grossa Cool Wool Merino 2000, color 531

What was your inspiration?

Wanted to try some things I hadn't done before, and there was a hole in my wardrobe where there should be a feminine, lightweight sweater with 3/4 sleeves. I wasn't crazy about this color, but I had 20 balls of it and I needed a neutral. Everything I knit is purple, blue or green!

What are you most proud of?

I don't think I swore at all while making this sweater. :-) (Well, I mean, not about the knitting!)

I learned a new technique for pulling out a section of about 6 stitches I botched, 4 rows back, without ripping out all 4 rows. Proud of myself for figuring out a button/neck band arrangement that helped pull in a little too much fullness in the neckline. I'm just generally very pleased with this sweater and think it will become a favorite. Best of all, I finished it in 3 weeks, a personal best.

What advice would you give someone starting this project?

Go to the library and check out all their stitch pattern books! Count carefully and use a lifeline if you're new to lace.

Thanks, everyone, for the kind words. I love this sweater more than any other I've made. I cast on for another one the minute I finished this one! :) Myra, I enjoyed the class, especially because I finally get the logic of the top-down sweater. I have always just followed the patterns, and now I understand better what I'm doing. That made it go so much faster! Oh, and this color is really growing on me. I still have enough for another sweater, and I think it's going to move way up on my list.

Just gorgeous... I love the colour and I really like the way you have done the band and how it curls... I might have to try this on my next project.
