Is this your project? Can you share instructions or a pattern with the Craftsy community?

Difficulty:

Category: Sewing

Type of item: Clothing

For: Women

Style: Rock / Punk, Goth, Funky, Cute

Materials

cotton woven plaid, bias tape, d rings

What was your inspiration?

I made this skirt several years ago- wore it out once and got a lot of positive feedback- now I'm 3 sizes too small to wear it (hence no photos of me wearing it, DOH!), so here it is, and its for sale in my Etsy shop. More details including sizing can be found there!

What are you most proud of?

How well it fit when I first made it- I had been playing around with pleats for a few weeks with little success, and this project helped me develop my own formula for making pleats work. Keeping track of what and how you do things (i.e. my sewing notebook of doom LOL) helps me cement good methods in my head, as well as shows where I went wrong and how far I have to back track if I mess up! I have about 6 years worth of sewing notes....

What advice would you give someone starting this project?

As always, take your time. The more planned and deliberate your work, the better the final product will be.

Thanks! I'd wear it if it still fit... I made it when I was wearing like size 10 jeans... now I am wearing around baggy 7's...
