What materials did you use? Upholstery Fabrics: a nubby boucle fabric in light brown (color of a paper sack) paired with green brown black tartan plaid. Decorated with penny rug medallion from circles of wool felt and embroidery floss blanket stitching. Pockets lined with black Kona cotton.

What are you most proud of? QUILTED LAYERS I pinned together 2 layers of light brown boucle, then free motion quilted, to produce 1 rectangle RESULTING in the nubby texture on the front and back. Then I marked 1.5 inch diagonal chalk lines and sewed a decorative diamond stitch on the lines. I was frugal cutting up the small remnant of evergreen tartan plaid--cutting 2 squares for lined pockets (front and interior), and strips to decorate the margins of the purse and the shoulder strap. In my stash--I had one leftover felted penny medallion I made from another project and used it to decorate the tartan front pocket. Pockets were lined with black Kona cotton. Black Zipper for front closure.

What advice would you give someone starting this project? TIPS: Got a remnant? Pair it with another fabric. Results are great. Try quilting together 2 layers of fabric--it adds strength, firm shaping, and desirable weight to a purse project. Most Important: take Carol Ann Waugh's two online classes at Craftsy. Stupendous Stitching and Stitch and Slash. She has amazing ideas and techniques to share with you. Once you get her "no rules" attitude in your head--you'll be constantly challenging yourself to top your last project. For me, Carol Ann's classes are like putting the pedal to the metal and running WILD in high gear.
