What was your inspiration?
This is what I've done so far for a costume for a costume contest and will be a pin-up version of the TARDIS from Doctor Who when it's finished. The bodice pattern if from Mary Adams's Party Dress book and is graded up a size from the largest in the book and the bra cups are from this course's Burda pattern and they re graded up two sizes from the largest.
The bodice is made from seven patter pieces that I had to split apart at the tops and then piece back together to create the black band at the top, Tonight I plan on attaching the straps and lining to the outer bodice and constructing the skirt. I need this thing done by Friday, so I'm hoping to be able to let it hang tonight to settle the bias (the skirt will be a full circle skirt) and then tomorrow I can hem this sucker.
What are you most proud of?
I've never done anything like this before, building a bra into a dress. I'm a 36DDD, so bras for me are nothing to sneeze at. Also, I did a lot of pattern grading and altering on this bodice, so I feel like I designed this dress, rather than just making it from a pattern.
