Instructions

Learn how to make this cuff in Claudia's Craftsy Course: http://www.craftsy.com/class/Bead-and-Tapestry-Cuffs/78

Difficulty:

Category: Weaving

Type of item: Accessory

For: Women

Style: Casual, Ethnic, Cute, Funky

Materials

Hand-dyed silk, size 8/0 and 11/0 seed beads, novelty yarn, c-lon beading cord and c-long thread.

What was your inspiration?

I was inspired by my love of tapestry. I wanted to use those techniques to make jewelry, which essentially would be small format weaving. It was so much fun I had to make a lot of them.

What are you most proud of?

Coming up with something original and colorful.

What advice would you give someone starting this project?

Be patient and use a good loom with great tension. Don't be afraid of color. Buy a tapestry weaving book and study some of the techniques so you can expand into making shapes and maybe even scenes.

Hey Mizzy: I use a brass cuff. You can actually get them on my site: www.mirrixlooms.com or you could come pick them up here! And I dye the silk for the weaving part. Fun to make. Featured in current issue of Beadwork.
